- 2 dAYS TOUR FROM MARRAKECH TO ZAGORA, SAHARA DESERT PLAN:
Our 2 days desert tour from Marrakech to Zagora Sahara desert starts in the morning. We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech and drive in a comfortable car or minivan. Along the way, we’ll pass through beautiful villages and enjoy the scenic views of the Atlas mountains.
In Ouarzazate, we’ll visit the impressive Kasbah of Taourirt and the Cinema Museum. Then, we’ll continue through the valleys, reaching Agdez and stopping for lunch at a charming Kasbah in Tamnougalt. Afterward, we’ll head to Zagora where camels will be waiting to take us to the desert camp.
At the camp, you’ll experience a magical sunset over the dunes. The staff will welcome you with mint tea and provide tents for the night. We’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and gather around the campfire for singing, dancing, and Berber music, creating joyful memories.
The next day, after breakfast, we’ll return to Marrakech, passing through scenic landscapes and enjoying the journey back.
On the second day, we’ll start with an early breakfast to catch the breathtaking sunrise in Zagora and take stunning photos. Then, we’ll ride the camels back to where the car is waiting for us. We’ll leave Zagora and make our way to the fortified village of Ait Benhaddou.
After having lunch, we’ll explore the village, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ait Benhaddou is famous for its role in many movies, including “The Gladiator,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” and even some scenes from “Game of Thrones” were filmed here.
It’s interesting to know that seven families still live in the old village, while others have moved to the modern side across the valley. In the past, Ksar Ait Benhaddou was an important stop for caravans traveling through the Ounila valley. They would exchange goods here, rest, and continue their journey either back to the desert or towards Marrakech. And with that, our 2-day desert tour from Marrakech to Zagora Sahara desert comes to an end.
